About Us

Glenda Roberts established exploringUcounselling in 2008 which was the realisation of a long term passion. Having had over 25 years of experiences working closely, and supporting those coping with trauma and brain injury, Glenda now helps people understand themselves, simplifying life’s issues, through the provision of a uniquely approachable service. Based in the heart of Suffolk, the company provides an invaluable service for those looking to work through issues without having to commute to London. Since launching euc, Glenda and her expert team of specialist counsellors / psychotherapists & rehabilitation co-ordinators have positively helped to changed the lives of many people and are dedicated to doing the same in future. By focusing on providing clients with a personal, confidential service, the team at exploringU is able to recommend the right counsellor with the best experience to suit the client’s individual need. ‘The sad truth is that many times those who are struggling feel they have no way ‘out’. I cannot express the importance of people realising that there are options available, and that there are specialists out there who can help people work through their troubles. No one is alone.’.

The expert team at exploringUcounselling provide support to individuals working through a wide range of issues. Our tried and tested process is designed to help you feel better and to improve your quality of living. We understand that the relationship you have with your counsellor is paramount. After the first conversation, a member of the exploringU team will discuss your situation with the director who will then recommend the most suitable counsellor who has the experience to support you with your individual requirements. Your first consultation lasts 60 minutes and will be held in a safe and confidential space. In this time, you’ll get a sense of what it will be like working through this process before committing to a series of weekly hour-long sessions. Relationship counselling / psychotherapy Investing in couples counselling can be a big step for a relationship which is why our staff are extremely sensitive to the step you’re making. Your initial 60 minute consultation with an experienced counsellor will be to discuss your current situation in more detail and to discover your reasons for seeking help. We will begin a dialogue to determine if therapy is right for your relationship. Please follow this link to read more about our counsellors who work with relationship / couples counselling Our professionals work with a spectrum of issues that can arise within a couple relationship, including sexual difficulties like loss of desire, sexual incompatibility, impotency and arousal disorder. We understand that there may be times where partner may benefit more from individual counselling and will recommend individual counselling where appropriate. Family counselling / psychotherapy Family counselling aims to open a door to a new way of communicating with, and understanding, each other. Your dedicated and experienced counsellor will remain neutral and will look at how individuals within a family relate to others with a view to taking their relationship forward with understanding and respect. During a family counselling session we look at family dynamics and examine any break down of relationships. Our process is about mediation and always gives everybody the opportunity to be heard. There will be opportunities for each family member to list, acknowledge their roles and patterns of behaviour. By looking at past and present relationships within a family unit, we’re able to identify any inherited unconscious patterns of operation which may be producing a negative effect. Please follow this link to read more about our counsellors who work with families Working with children Our approach to counselling children is based on a need to explore the presenting issue while discovering and encouraging their self-awareness and inner confidence. Good self-esteem promotes well-being and helps a child believe in themselves, even in difficult situations. Throughout childhood there can be a number of life changing experiences, such as losses, moving house or divorce. If a child is confident, they will have the tools needed to stay on the right path and have the strength to accept challenges in life with a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude. Our counselling incorporates all the different types of learning styles so that each child has every opportunity to learn, be stimulated and engaged. Our sessions consist of working with colour and imagery, making models, feeling cards, artwork and more. Each child is unique with different parenting issues, so our sessions are tailored to every child’s needs. Please follow this link to read more about our counsellors who work with children.
