Wirksworth Swimming Pool is operated by a not-for-profit charitable business. The trustees, a team of Wirksworth residents, are passionate about securing the future of this great community facility, but to do so we need your support. As a charity, Wirksworth Swimming Pool needs to be self-financing, so by using the pool you will be contributing to its future.
We have: - Heated indoor swimming pool - Male and Female changing rooms - Baby changing tables in both male and female changing rooms - Toilets -Free Parking - Disabled access.
Establishment: In 2009, Rural Action Derbyshire(RAD) and Derbyshire Dales CVS(DDCVS) were commissioned by Derbyshire Dales District Council(DDDC) and the Anthony Gell Foundation to write a report about the usage of Wirksworth Swimming Pool, support for the pool in the community, and the options for the future management and governance of the pool. The report particularly focused on the possibility of the pool being passed into community ownership. After considering the findings of the report, DDDC commissioned RAD / DDCVS to produce a Business Plan for the pool to be run by an independent community organisation. A stakeholder / working group was established of those with an interest in Wirksworth Swimming Pool. This group evolved in to a number of willing trustees for the pool, which today have formed a charitable business which took ownership of the pool in April 2012.
Areas we cover: We cover Matlock, Ashbourne and other surrounding areas.
